What is it?

Once this museum was simply the stodgy old Chicago Historic Culture, which allows you to filter via hundreds of archived photos as well as a curio. That library still exists, but joining it are several irreversible as well as momentary exhibitions, the largest of which is “Chicago: Crossroads of America,” a gold mine of fascinating historic things, including a piece of the original Ft Dearborn.

Why go?

If you want a comprehensive look at the people, places, and points that make Chicago what it is today, the History Museum is well worth a visit.
Founded in 1856, the Chicago Background Museum is residence to more than 22 million artifacts, papers, pictures, as well as a world-renowned outfit collection blown in from the city’s past. Located in Lincoln Park, the precious gallery is residence to numerous galleries and also interactive exhibitions where site visitors can discover the remarkable background of a city that grew from a 19th-century trading outpost to a busy, younger town that hosted the World’s Columbian Presentation in 1893 to the Chicago we know today. Despite your age or interest, the Chicago History Gallery has something for everyone. Psst: Admission consists of accessibility to all exhibits in the museum, including audio excursions. Kids 12 as well as under and Illinois locals 18 and under snag-free admission daily.
